Gross salary
Gross salary is the amount an employee receives before taxes and mandatory contributions are deducted.
Net salary
Net salary is the actual amount an employee receives in their bank account after all mandatory deductions have been made.
Changes in 2026
- In 2026, the annual tax-free threshold is €6,600, or €550 per month (compared to €6,000 and €500, respectively, in 2025).
- The minimum monthly wage in 2026 is €780. The minimum wage is established by Cabinet Regulation No. 656 of November 24, 2015 (as amended by Regulation No. 680 of November 19, 2025).
- In 2026, mandatory social security contributions must be made on a quarterly income of €2,340.
